TRANSFER STUDENT SUPPORT
At the Mount, you are assigned to a transfer admission specialist that will assist you with your application, financial aid process and admission. You will also be assigned a transition success coach to help you with your paperwork, orientation to the University, registering for classes and settling into your new residence hall.
FINANCES
At the Mount, we believe that your best investment is an education, and its pursuit should not be limited by financial concerns. With a combination of federal, state, and Mount Saint Mary’s aid, you will see that your hard work really will pay off. Every admitted transfer student – including those through Verto Direct Transfer – receives a renewable merit scholarship ranging from $14,500 to $19,500 per year.
STUDENT LIFE
At Mount Saint Mary’s University, you can make your mark in the classroom and beyond! We have a club to meet your needs or we’ll help you start a new one. Plus, the Mount’s signature leadership programs will help you develop and grow your skills based on a foundation of critical thinking, ethics and civic engagement.
Transfer students are welcome to live on either of our two campuses in L.A. Once the enrollment deposit is paid, students will be able to pay the housing deposit and access the housing application.
Expand the breadth and depth of your educational experience at the Mount with one of our Study Away opportunities within the U.S. or abroad. Students can choose a campus within our network of ACSSJ sister colleges, global exchange partners, research abroad, and more!
To earn guaranteed admission to Mount Saint Mary’s University through the Direct Transfer Pathway, during your time with Verto you will need:
- 2.4+ GPA
- Minimum 12 transferable credits
Music, Nursing.
Admission to the Music program is for fall entry only and requires an audition and interview with department faculty. Interested students may apply through the MSMU application, outside of the Verto Direct Transfer pathway.
Admission to the Nursing program is for fall entry only and for students who have completed nursing prerequisite courses with a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and 2.7 science GPA. Interested students may apply through the MSMU Nursing application, outside of the Verto Direct Transfer pathway.
Yes! Mount Saint Mary’s University welcomes both fall and spring transfers from Verto.
Please note, however, that some programs may be fall start only. Please see the question on What programs are not included? for more details.
While you won’t be eligible for the guarantee, we still encourage you to work with your Verto Care Team to prepare and submit a Verto Partner Application for holistic review.
You are still eligible for the Direct Transfer guarantee to Mount Saint Mary’s University! The 2.4 GPA requirement is cumulative of all college transcripts. Make sure to request official copies of your prior college transcripts be sent to MSMU directly when you apply. Credits earned prior will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis
Yes! Make sure to submit your final transcript for grades 9-12 or GED score report.
While you won’t be eligible for the guarantee, we still encourage you to work with your Verto Care Team to prepare and submit a Verto Partner Application for holistic review.

Once you arrive to your Verto location, you can begin working with Verto staff to prepare your application to MSMU. Applications are typically sent following mid-terms, so your mid-term report can demonstrate your progress towards Direct Transfer eligibility.

Verto can update the matriculation semester on your current application. You do not need to commit to MSMU in order to defer.

Once we have received your application and all required documents, you can expect confirmation of your Direct Transfer Admission within a week.
